Loma Linda Field Station
Field Station and Facilities
The 55-hectare Loma Linda Field Station protects some of the region’s most intact forest remnants and hosts large-scale, long-term forest restoration experiments. The station offers a native tree nursery, basic laboratory and office facilities, lodging for researchers and students, forest trails, and areas dedicated to organic agriculture.
Located 15 km away along the crest of a mountain range, Finca Gavilán (40 ha) offers spectacular views of the surrounding landscape. The property is dedicated to conservation and ecological restoration, combining active restoration efforts with natural forest regeneration. A simple roofed camping platform provides a base for field activities.
The recently acquired Quebrada Garza property (7 ha) protects a beautiful stream within the Río Claro watershed and strengthens connectivity between surrounding forest fragments.
All three properties are located within the Amistosa Biological Corridor, contributing to a broader landscape of forest conservation, ecological restoration, and habitat connectivity.
